Ministry to the Sick
Care of the sick is one of the corporal works of mercy, and our parish takes seriously the need to provide for the spiritual needs of the sick and elderly in our community.
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available anyone with a serious health concern. Parishioners are encouraged to request an anointing if they have suffered a significant change or decline in health, before any major surgery or near death.
Friends in Faith
The Friends in Faith are parish sponsored, trained visitors who will adopt a “friend” who would like regular visits and assist in meeting special needs.
Routine Visits to private homes and nursing homes are made by Deacon Jerry Theis, who is responsible for coordinating parish ministry to the sick and home bound.
A Prayer List is kept in the weekly bulletin to alert the community of the prayer needs for members or loved ones. Parishioners are asked to keep a prayerful eye on the list and add names of loved ones who need our prayers.
Communion Ministers home visits, or visits to nursing homes, to distribute communion to those who are unable to attend mass on Sundays or First Fridays.
An annual Anointing Mass is held every fall to offer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick more generally to all who feel that their health requires it.
The parish attempts to live out the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy by involving parishioners in the local community and calling attention to needs throughout Central Minnesota, our nation, and the entire world.
Food Shelf Collection Baskets are left in the back of the church for donations to the Rocori Area Food Shelf in Cold Spring.
Every Christmas, the faith formation program sponsors the giving tree. Parishioners draw a family or individual to receive a Christmas donation, and provide a corresponding Christmas gift.
Special collections are taken up for Catholic Relief Services, the Holy Land, Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of the Military, Foreign Missions for specially designated needs or emergency relief.
Catholic Relief Services
Catholic Relief Services is a global outreach of the Church to address the need for basic necessities and human development. The parish participates in the annual Rice Bowl Collection through CRS.
