Pflaum Gospel Weeklies

The Faith Formation Program we are using is called Pflaum Gospel Weeklies. Liturgical Catechesis is a method of instruction that integrates the formation lesson with the life of the Parish community experienced in the Sunday Eucharist. The content flows from the Sunday Gospel and children learn their faith within the rhythms of the liturgical year. Each child also receives a “catechism handbook” called What the Church Believes and Teaches. This Handbook contains the entire doctrinal elements essential at each grade level.

The free resources designed for families include The Gospel at Home, which is a weekly summary to be used at home with all age levels. You can sign up to get an email reminder with a link to the resource. They can be found at Pflaumweeklies.com. Then go to Online Resources and scroll down to Gospel at Home and then the date needed.

Lenten Service Project
Kids Fighting Hunger

On behalf of the families that packaged food for Kids Fighting Hunger, we thank all of our parishioners and organizations (over 200) from Saints Peter and Paul and Rich Spring Prairie Community for making this a huge success. God Bless you for your support and generosity!!! We couldn't have done this outreach without you! The 38,000 meals were sent to the United Nations Food & Agricultural Organization for distribution throughout the world. An inspiring day!

Families Breaking Open the Word

FBOW

Our faith formation program is a family based faith formation process entitled Families Breaking Open the Word. Our goal is to provide a structure for children of all ages to deepen their faith and integrate parents more strongly in the faith development of their child at church and within the home. Our program will gather all grade levels with their parents on the same night for intergenerational learning and as a convenience for busy families.

SCHEDULE

FBOW will usually meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month depending on the liturgical calendar.  Those in grades 1,3-5 will meet again on the 4th Wednesdays of each month beginning in October.

The schedule will be flexible depending upon content, but will generally follow this pattern:

6:30-6:50
6:50-7:40
7:40-7:50
7:50
8:00
Prayer Service
Individual Sessions (Grades 1-10) & Parents
Family/Inter-generational Sharing
Announcements/Closing Prayer
Dismissal

. . . may they all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us and that the world may believe that you sent me.

Vacation Bible School

The Parish offers a weeklong Vacation Bible Experience every June. It is open to all school age childering entering grades K-6 in the Fall of that year. We are always in need of youth and adult volunteers as leaders. We share music, scripture stories, games, food and crafts to stress the theme of the week. Watch for flyers and registration in late April. We stress building a strong faith community among the team and participants and service to the local and global communities.
